Director: Francis Ford Coppola
Year: 1972
Actors: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan and Richard S. Castellano
Story: This film shows how Don Vito played by Marlon Brando, grooms his son Michael played by Al Pacino, to take over the family business. Their family business is that of organized crime that takes place during the years of 1945-1955. The movie shows how each son is involved in the business. Sonny is the weaker of the sons and is not considered to be strong enough to take over as head of the family. In the death of Don Vito it is Michael that must step up and continue to run the family business.

Plot: The movie illustrates the closeness of the family and how each plays a part in the family business. Michael is reluctant to be involved, but is the only son that is strong enough to take over as the head of the family. Throughout the movie it is demonstrated that Don Vito is removing himself from the business as Michael is becoming more involved.

Chronology: This movie was presented chronologically. This helped to make understanding what was happening in the film easier to understand. By presenting in chronological order it showed how things were in the beginning and how they progressed as Don Vito was working to get Michael to take over at the head of the family. By presenting in this order it showed how Michael initially was reluctant to take the position but later moved into head of the family and filled his father’s shoes.

If the film had follow a different order it could have been difficult to follow and know how things started and the order things took in the changing over of the family head. Important steps may have been missed and the movie may not have made any sense to the viewers. By presenting chronologically it was easier to follow.
